OOAK Polka-Dot
Bottle Stopper

For those who can’t finish a bottle of wine (say what?!) or even just to keep things fancy at a dinner part of 1-100.

There are a handful of stoppers over and over again – designs that I’ve simply grown attached to…then there are the ones where I grab colors and just play with the glass in the fire without keeping track of what colors I’m using or how I get a particular effect.  Most of the stoppers I have on hand are only made once, put on display for sale and not made again. This is one of those stoppers.

Each Polka-Dot Heirloom Bottle Stopper is made individually melting rods of glass in the flame of the torch. The detail work is achieved by getting the rod of glass hot and using tweezers to pull out thinner “stringers” of glass to make the dots. People who know me know I love polka-dots – they’re all over this website, I use them at my shows and even on my shipping boxes -my love for polka-dots may, or may not have something to do with my last name. Love this design but want custom colors?  Reach out to me, let’s make that happen!

Additionally this stopper has a footed base that will keep it standing when not in use, because you are not likely to want to put it in a drawer. It’s gorgeous when the light hits it on a window-sill.

Comes packaged in a pretty organza bag with an informational card about the quality of these gorgeous stoppers.

Each art glass heirloom bottle stopper is one-of-a-kind with each piece created one-at-a-time. Cheaply mass-produced, imported bottle stoppers are often plated and will eventually flake, chip and/or pit–often after very limited use. Finally, because cheap, mass-produced glass is rarely annealed for strength, it has a high risk of breakage. This artisan glass is created by me, in my studio and is annealed in a digitally controlled kiln for maximum durability. The glass is set atop a quality, food-grade, solid stainless steel stopper (no flaking, chipping or pitting!) with food grade nitrile gaskets that allow the stopper to snugly in most bottles. All of this ensures you receive a quality product that can stand the test of time and last several lifetimes. Hence the name “Heirloom Bottle Stopper.”
