About the glass station

Hello! I'm so happy you're here. My name is Kimberly and I've been a fulltime glass artist since 2012. The glass station is based in Chicago where I was born, raised and still live and create today. Glass is a medium of endless possibilities: I do both torch-work (lampworking) and kiln-work (glass fusing) tho most of my time is spent making fused night lights that have been making countless people smile since the very first one I made - a transparent green owl - for my niece's nursery in January 2012.

My process usually begins with sketching a design on paper before selecting materials and then working to bring that sketch to life in glass. Each night light is made from numerous individually cut pieces of glass that are assembled with incredible attention to detail before going into a digitally controlled kiln for those pieces to fuse together into one. The resulting night lights are durable, fun, vibrant, whimsical and detailed. Each one is made by me, one at a time.

I hope you'll visit me at a show where you'll find sophisticated functional glass art created in the torch. There's nothing quite like creating with molten glass behind a flame nearly a foot long. You'll also find one-of-a-kind glass art. I hope to be able to make something that makes you smile soon....
